so that 的意思是:

為了…,以便…;結果…,以致…

相當于in order to，"為了，以便"

He tries his best so that he can pass the exam.

(主句和從句時態保持一致即可)

so that引導目的狀語從句時意為“以便，使能夠”，從句里的謂語動詞前要加上may, might, can, could, will, would等情態動詞

例如: He turned down the radio so that it wouldn’t disturb his neighbours. 他把收音機聲音關小了，這樣就不會打擾鄰居們了。

so that 的常用口語:

I turn on the light so that I can see clearly.

我把燈打開以便看得清楚些

His back is so crooked that he can not stand upright.

他的背彎得他站不直。

They have to dredge the canal so that ships can use it.

他們須疏浚運河河道輪船方可通航.

that = so.
