拼綴法（blending）是把兩個詞同時進行裁剪，或截頭或去尾，或只裁剪兩個詞中的一個，保留另外一個。然后把兩部分拼合在一起，構成一個新詞。Blending is a process of word formaiton by combining parts of two words or a word plus a part of another word. 具體做法包括分為：詞首+詞尾，詞首+詞首，詞首+單詞，單詞+詞尾。拼綴法構詞一般首先出現于報刊文章、科技文章利。用這種構詞法創造的新詞言簡意豐，生動別致，符合現代人快節奏的甚或。必須承認，拼綴法（blending）是當代英語新詞匯發展豐富的重要的構詞方式之一。
